Chris Murray is the Vice President of Agility’s Defence & Government Services in Europe.
Chris joined Agility in 2010 and is primarily responsible for the development of Defence and Government contract opportunities and new strategic partnerships in the UK and Europe.
During his tenure, Chris has secured significant contract wins with the UK MoD in Afghanistan, Iraq, Cyprus, South Sudan and the UK. Agility played a key role in the strategic redeployment from Afghanistan by disposing of a vast range and volume of equipment that Defence did not wish to recover to the UK. Agility execute a number of key services for the MoD including operational disposal activity, cargo aircraft chartering, the sale of surplus aviation spares, the movement of armoured vehicles in Europe, providing a Global Removal Service for Household Goods and the delivery of military equipment to challenging destinations.
Before joining Agility, Chris enjoyed 36 years of service in the British Army. In his final appointment in the Army, as a Brigadier, he was privileged to be the Director of the Royal Logistic Corps, the Army’s ‘cap badge’ champion for all of the British Army’s 16,000 Regular and 6000 Reserve logisticians. Previous senior appointments included closing
the UK’s Campaign in Bosnia as the last Commander British Forces and commanding 143 (West Midland) Brigade. Prior to that, he was Director of the Defence Storage and Distribution Centre Bicester and was faced
with having to outload the Depot for Gulf War 2. In a previous appointment, he was the Commander Royal Logistic Corps Territorial Army. Chris is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, an Honorary Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Carmen and is proud to continue to serve as Colonel Commandant of the RLC. Chris was appointed as Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2002 for being a thoroughly nice bloke. His interests include keeping his wife in a style to which she has sadly become accustomed, spoiling a granddaughter, and skiing. Chris owns a set of golf clubs.
